This police officer studied criminal justice at an Iowa community college right out of high school. During college, he was an intern for several small town police departments in Iowa. He rode along on patrol, watched what the officers did at work and eventually got security jobs at special events in those towns. One of those police departments gave him his first full-time job and sent him to the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy for training.
As a police officer, he enforces vehicle and traffic laws, conducts accident investigations, finds and questions suspects, apprehends criminals and works to prevent crime. During each shift, he is assigned a specific area of the city. Despite Iowa's fluctuating temperatures, this officer often patrols with his driver-side window down, so he can hear a call for help.
