Park Ranger #1051 - Tape Number: 1051

Career Profile:
Park Ranger #1051

This woman wanted to be a park ranger from the time she was in kindergarten. She loved the out-of-doors and grew up in a family that did a lot of camping. She attended a Midwestern university and took all the "ology" classes (biology, zoology, etc.) she could to prepare her for this career endeavor. She was offered a park ranger intern position near that university which later grew into a full-time opportunity. She couldn't be happier.

Her position as a park ranger is with the Army Corps of Engineers and her work includes recreational areas around a dam. She spends part of her day in the visitor center and office and the rest of the day outdoors. Since most of the recreational areas are under development, she often works in a team with engineers. She loves her work and feels this job is what she was meant to do.
