Each project has several steps. First, she analyzes the soil, vegetation and rock features for each site. Next, she prepares site plans and working drawings using a computer assisted drafting system. After presenting proposals to clients, she finalizes the plan. Finally, she makes site visits to ensure the site has been landscaped as planned.
Career Profile:
This senior landscape designer majored in community and regional planning in college until she realized her favorite topic in those courses was design. This lover of the outdoors soon changed her major to landscape design. She worked for three years to earn the title of landscape architect. In Iowa, it's illegal to use that title unless certain requirements are met. She'll tell you this includes several exams.
