Career Profile:
Executive Director #1048

This executive director works in an arboretum. She returned to college as a nontraditional student, to obtain her Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree. Prior to graduation she interned with a municipal park department, her assignment was to design new park areas. She realized she enjoyed working in the area of public spaces, providing beautiful areas for everyone to enjoy.

Following graduation, she was offered a job as landscape architect in training with an urban park district out of state. She loved her job, but when the position of executive director of a local arboretum was offered to her she jumped at the chance to return to Iowa.

The rest is history, she has been at the arboretum more than 10 years. She enjoys her job because she works with people who enjoy horticulture and has the opportunity to teach others about it.
