The goal of this groundskeeper is to make the big leagues. He is currently head groundskeeper for a Triple A baseball team, which is just a phone call away from the majors.
He came to this urban job after completing a two-year turf management program at a southern state school. He manages a staff of twelve people during the spring and summer months. He is responsible for covering the field in the event of bad weather after or during games. When rain comes, his entire staff runs around like bees covering the field with a tarp to prevent damage to the field.
He, like most groundskeepers at the major-league level, has a garden in the work area at the ballpark. Here he grows turf should he need to replace divots. This groundskeeper is proud of what he and his crew do and how the field looks during each game. He delights in people saying, "the field looks great."
