Career Profile:
Obstetrician/Gynecologist #1215

After spending eight years as a mechanical engineer for a large aircraft company, this career professional decided he would rather work with people than planes. So, he spent a year taking night classes to prepare for medical school. He completed his residency in Iowa and began practicing as an obstetrician/gynecologist in 1997.

Why the big career change? This physician says he wanted to do something that made a difference in someone's life. It appears he has succeeded: in just two and a half years of practice, he has delivered more than 600 babies!

He says it is OK to choose a career and find out you don't enjoy it. Since we spend much of our lives at work, he says it is worth it to pursue a career you are passionate about. He is happier and has found a career he loves.
