What does this dentist enjoy most about his job? He loves working with people. This southwest Iowa dentist had intentions of becoming a physicist. When he started college, he quickly realized there wasn't a lot of one-on-one personal interaction in the field of physics. A friend told him about dentistry. It sounded interesting because it involved science and working with his hands but in a people-oriented atmosphere. He changed his career path and hasn't looked back.
As a dentist, he sees patients four days a week. He may see as many as 15 patients a day and performs a variety of different dental procedures. These procedures range from cavity fillings to extractions. His experiences with dentists when he was a child started out shaky but then became a positive thing. This dentist advises students interested in dentistry to job shadow a dentist for a day and to study the workings of a dentist's office.
