"Architecture is said to be the mother of the arts," says this central Iowa architect. He likes architecture because it combines his creative art talent with math in a people-oriented environment.
As a child, he spent a lot of time around construction. His father built houses for a living and he had the opportunity to spend time on construction sites. Knowing the basic principles surrounding the building of a structure such as a house has helped him excel at building larger structures such as sports facilities and office buildings.
He lists some of the duties of an architect as meeting with clients, conceptualizing designs, working on models, construction plans and layouts and overseeing the actual construction. He feels he is best at meeting with the clients. Figuring out the needs and coming up with ideas to fulfill them is his strength.
