He was recently honored with the Milken Family Foundation National Education Award. Known by his students as "Mr. T," this third grade teacher earned college degrees in both education and Spanish. He originally planned to teach high school Spanish, but found he enjoyed younger students while student teaching elementary students.
Career Profile:
As a second grader, this elementary teacher moved to Iowa from another part of the country. Being the new student in class, his teacher made him feel welcome, which inspired him to become a teacher himself.
