Special Education Teacher #1101 - Tape Number: 1101

Career Profile:
Special Education Teacher #1101

Inspired by one of her own high school instructors, this special education teacher first obtained her four-year teaching degree in home economics.

After a few years of teaching that subject, she made a strategic career decision to teach special education. Her original motivation was the fact that there was a high demand for special education teachers. She had married and wanted to know she would have no trouble returning to teaching if she ever decided to spend a few years at home with her children.

She finds she enjoys the challenge of special education, and continues to teach full time as she raises her family in western Iowa. Some of her students have been through difficult times and she knows her work can make a difference in their lives.
