Police Patrol Officer #1058 - Tape Number: 1058

Career Profile:
Police Patrol Officer #1058

This police officer started college with plans to study medicine or special education. Discussions with a friend studying criminal justice sparked her interest in the field. She changed her major and began learning about law enforcement.

Meanwhile, she had studied Spanish since eighth grade and knew she would use her bilingual skills as a police officer. She got her first job out of college in an Iowa town with a significant Spanish-speaking population.

She enjoys small-town policing because officers are involved in every step of each case they cover. It starts with an investigation, an arrest, and often wraps up in a court of law.
