Career Profile:
Training Director #1074
This electrician began his career in high school by working weekends and during summer breaks for electrical contractors. As a service man, he greased and changed oil in heavy equipment and trucks. After graduating he found work as a groundsman for an electrical powerline company in the southern United States. He travelled with the same company for nine years, operating heavy equipment all over the country. When this company went out of business he decided to enroll in a lineman apprentice program. After completing the apprenticeship, he was offered a job as the assistant training director of the program. Three years later he became the training director. This field of work has allowed him to see many parts of the country. He has lived in over 30 states! He says that travelling has been a great experience; he's lived in the desert, mountains, near the ocean, and now in Iowa. Meeting different people has been the other exciting aspect of his career. He enjoys the diversity that this field provides.
