Transportation Director
A transportation director formulates policies, programs, and procedures for a transportation system, including schedules, rates, routes, assignment of drivers and vehicles and other terminal operations. Some manage operations in companies that provide transportation and related services. A transportation director sets up work procedures, selects staff, and coordinates activities between departments. A person in this occupation reviews operations, and prepares reports and budgets. Most handles technical matters and union contracts.
