Aircraft Pilot
An aircraft pilot flies airplanes and helicopters to carry out a wide variety of tasks. Transports passengers and cargo. May be involved in more unusual tasks, such as dusting crops, spreading seed for reforestation, testing aircraft, tracking criminals, monitoring traffic, and rescuing and evacuating injured persons. During flight, an aircraft pilot communicates with air traffic controllers and monitors instruments. Often relies on computerized controls. With the help of autopilot and the flight management computer, steers the plane along the planned route. Scans the instrument panel to check fuel supply, the condition of the engines, and the air-conditioning, hydraulic, and other systems. After landing, completes records on the flight.
