Agronomist
Studies plants and their growth in soils. Helps producers of food, feed, and fiber crops that are needed to feed a growing population while conserving natural resources and maintaining the environment. Studies ways to improve the nutritional value of crops and to help increase productivity. Investigates field crop problems, and develops new growth methods to improve the quality of crops. Suggests ways to control diseases, pests, and weeds. Conducts studies related to soil analysis and plant breeding, and writes papers and reports on the findings. May use genetic engineering to develop crops that are resistant to pests and drought.
