Creativity and a love of science and the outdoors combined to lead Bob to a career as a landscape architect. He was introduced to the field by a college friend who invited him to sit in on some classes just to learn what it was all about. That's all it took for Bob to switch his college major from accounting to landscape architecture!
The life of a landscape architect is influenced by changing seasons and geographic location. For this landscape architect living in the Midwest, his busy seasons are spring, summer and fall. As the owner of a design/build business, he is involved in the business management side too.
Bob says his job is always stimulating because there are always new plant materials, and they are in a constant state of change. Each year a plant changes, and over 20-30 years the changes are significant. Therefore, it's important for him to read and study to keep up on new trends and products.
