Describe a typical "challenge" encountered in your work:
Keeping all navigators happy on a very busy summer day is a major challenge. Federal regulations set the guidelines for locking priorities, but on the front lines we are expected to lock ALL as quickly as possible. We must have the ability to deal with all personalities and situations. Recreational boaters must be aware of the dangers of the dam especially during "high water." How do you warn them?



Clearly describe what you expect from the students:
You have 1 million tons of grain to move from St. Paul to New Orleans. One single barge carries 1500 tons, which is equivalent to fifteen 100 ton rail cars, or 60 semi loads. Consider all options and impacts on all resources.
